last and final bolg of the semester

This is the current cover of the latest issue of cmyk. The reason why I chose it was because of David Carson. He is my favorite designer. I absolutely love his work. I love his reoccurring theme of surfing and high thrill sports that he designs for. He is a big inspiration to me as a designer. Anyway I also like the layout of the cover. It has the style from CMYK and David Carson put together to make a really great design. I really like the typeface of the 53 and how it looks like it is illuminated. To me this is a very successful layout cover for CMYK.

blog 15

This entire page of logos is found in Trademarks of the 60's and 70's. I felt like taking a trip to the past and seeing what the logos looked like back in the day. I really like going back to the past and seeing all the unique designs and logos they created. Looking at past designs really gives me the inspiration to crate things that have antique and rustic look but still keeping them up to date and current. These logos are so neat and clean, and I wish today's logo kept the simplicity that they did in the past. I find that logos in today's world are full and chaotic and not really as fun as they were back then.

blog 14

This image is found in The Language of Graphic Design. What really drew me to this image was the vibrant strands of colors in the background. I also like the foreground and how it has little houses and life in it to make it have the warm, full of life feeling. The colors in the background are very bright and vibrant, you can really tell the difference between all the colors and you can see the separate strands of color. Overall I find this image to be a very pleasing sight to the eyes and is very well done.

Blog 13

This image is from Vizz Outrageous Visual Communication. This design was done by Brian Holoubek. I really like this design in how it was created and executed. I really like the weirdness and randomness of it. All the random objects give it a very non informal feel. To me it feels very chaotic and full of energy, almost like you don't know what to think or feel when looking at it.

This was found in Lust A traveling Art Journal of Graphic Designers. This image was created by Matthew McGuinness. I really though this was a very creative and fun design. I really like how cartoonish and flat the bee looks. It really reminds me of a bee I would draw while doodling in my sketch book. I also like the hand drawn typeface that he used. The typeface is really interesting with the lines and the fluid movement through out the words. Overall I think that this piece is very good. It is fun, witty, and creative.

Blog 11

This was found in the book of The Art of Promotion. The design was created by Shawn Murenbeeld. What really caught my eye with this was the way it was packages. It is packaged just like meat is in the market. I thought that it was a really unique way to promote the t-shirt. I also like the design of the t-shirt is very fun and creative. Not a whole lot of shirts are out there with an image of meat on the it, which makes this a really interesting design. I also like the colors, the way the red catches your eye by the way it is projected off the gray/brownish t-shirt really makes a bold statement on the way the shirt speaks out to people. I really do believe that this a very fun, creative, and successful image and design.

blog ten...

This image was found in the Celebration  Graphics Sourcebook Festive designs for all cultures. The design was created by Ellen Crimi-Trent and the studio is Ellen Crimi-Trent Inc. The client was Self-initiated, the design was done for a Halloween cards. I thought it was appropriate to show something festive since Halloween is in a week and I also love Halloween. I really like the fun and comical design on the bats and the ghosts. I really like the wide eyes of the bats and the way they float through the orange background. I also like that it has perspective added into it. When it comes the the ghosts I like how they are not your typically scary ghosts, they are simply funny and comical. I really like how the designer gave them a personality and how each one is different. I really love the one in the black shirt. He just seem to happy and fun, defiantly not you typical scary haunted ghost. Overall I really find this image to be fun and creative]. It is very well done.
